Misadventures with wine, weights, and running shoes.

Tis the Season...

... to don a ridiculous costume and go run amuck. Alright, let's be honest...it is always the season for me to do that. Halloween is just as good of an excuse as any. So with thirteen yards of tulle, some lights, glow bracelets, homemade fairy wings, and a pair of striped tights I became the running fairy and headed to one of my favorite local running shops - ARS (Annapolis Running Shop). There I joined a true cast of characters: Dorthy from the Wizard of Oz, Little Red Riding Hood, The Teletubbie - Po (um yeah, foam costume and all ) Tom & Jerry, Pippy Long Stockings, Jane Fonda (didn't know they still made blue eye shadow - yikes,) a Corpse Bride, and a French Maid...just to name a few. I guess there was about thirty or so people and the majority were in some type of costume.

Shortly after 7:00, we descended out upon the street took off running (to the best of our costumed ability) through downtown Annapolis. Our two to three mile adventure was laden with hoots, hollers, cheers, and cat calls (pretty sure they were for Mark, the French Maid. It was a great night for a run and a great group of people to be running with.

To cap off the night, we met back up at ARS for refreshments and a costume contest for a pair of Brook's Ghosts. Yours truly did not win the grand prize but I did come away with a set of Nathan Reflective Snap Bands (SaWeet...actually needed those) as the winner for "Most Creative." The lovely French Maid also won for being the Most Funny. Tough competition but I am up to the challenge for next year...watch out!

If you haven't done so already, I highly suggest getting on your local running shop's mailing lists. It is an outstanding way to meet new people, learn more about running, and have a great time doing it.
