Misadventures with wine, weights, and running shoes.

Ack! Two weeks till the Philadelphia Half Marathon!

Sunday, November 3, 2013
There are two weeks until the Philadelphia Half Marathon and I have gone through every emotion in the book about it. I am excited that it is just around the corner.  I am also freaked out that it is just around the corner. I have self doubt followed by confidence and determination. I worry that I haven't trained enough and could have done more...done better. Then I start over thinking the run -  maybe I need to focus on my form - maybe I need to work on my breathing. Here's an idea...maybe I need to get my head out of it and focus on just getting there, enjoying the run, and finishing the race. Yeah, that is easier said then done.

The Army Ten Miler left me feeling nowhere near ready for the race. Then I participated in a local 5 miler - the Downs Park Miler (Hog Scamper) - and although I wasn't trying to go all out, I still managed to finish in under 51 minutes which is good for me. Then I knocked out ten miles this morning with an average pace of 10:10 and came away feeling great - No post run crash. Next weekend is my last long run at 12 miles. I am rallying my troops to get a group to come out with me for moral support and a proper send off into taperville.

This weeks training schedule is as follows:

  • Monday: Crosstrain at the gym. Yay! Ugh.
  • Tuesday: Crosstrain and 4-5 miles
  • Wednesday: 6 miles
  • Thursday: 6-7 miles
  • Friday: Crosstrain and 3-4 miles
  • Saturday: Rest
  • Sunday: 12 Miles
Is it bad that I have started packing for Philly already? Oh damn...I've got a new playlist to work on.
