Misadventures with wine, weights, and running shoes.

It's Been an Amazing Journey.

Sunday, November 10, 2013
One week from today, a gun will have fired and I will have made my way through the start on my first 13.1 mile adventure. It is hard to believe that I have come this far in less than a year. It is hard to believe that at this time last year, I was nervously anticipating the start of a Couch to 5K training program. I had only planned to train and complete a 5K, cross it off my bucket list, and move on. There was no plan or desire to run more than three miles. I would have never guessed that less than a year later, I would be staring a half marathon in the face. Nonetheless, here I am, tapering for the Philadelphia Half Marathon.

It has truly been an amazing year. I have learned a lot, met some incredible people, and accomplished more than I have ever thought possible. Naturally, I would not be here with out the support of really amazing kick ass friends -  some of which took time out of their day on a very cold Saturday morning to join me on my last long run. They have proven to me just how blessed I am.

Of course, once Philly is behind me the journey will be far from over. There are new goals and challenges ahead - dropping some weight and increasing strength and flexibility being two of them. Really don't want to carry any more weight up a mountain than I have to. First thing is first though...I need to conquer Philly. Time to pack!
