SweatPink!! Sunshine Burger Product Review

Monday, February 17, 2014
I absolutely love being a Sweat Pink Ambassador because it embodies much of what I stand for as a woman and a runner. One of the perks that comes with being a SPA is that I get some great opportunities to try and review products. Most recently, I was given the opportunity to try and review Sunshine Burgers.
This was a really great opportunity for me. I've seen them in the store and had planned on giving them a shot because they offer a feature that many other veggie burgers do not - they are gluten free. Since I am working on living a gluten free life, anything I can find that qualifies as gluten free is a huge win. Add to that the fact that it is also No GMO - DOUBLE WIN!
Sunshine Burgers come in a range of flavors including: Garden Herb, Loco Chipotle, Black Bean South West, Falafel, Shiitake Mushroom, Hemp &Sage Breakfast, Quarter Pound Original, and Barbecue. I received all but the last two to try. Let me tell you...I was taken aback by that. I figured I'd get one box to try and that was it.  As a result, I'll be kicking off my first review today and will write about each flavor as I try them.

Today, I will tell you about the Hemp & Sage Breakfast Patty.

I went for a traditional approach with the breakfast patty, opting for a simple breakfast of scrambled eggs to accompany it. When it comes to new foods, I prefer to start with them in their original form before I start getting creative with recipes. If I like it as is, why ruin a good thing - Right?
I prefer to scrabble my eggs with a little fresh ground pepper and sea salt and cook them in coconut oil. Figuring that the patty would take longer than the eggs, I went ahead and cooked it first and then added the eggs once the patty was just about heated through.
The texture of the patty took me a minute to get used to.  It is somewhat soft and bready and a little on the dry side and I could have used a little less sunflower seeds. My overall opinion of this item is it is just "ok."

Disclosure:
I was not financially compensated for this post. I received a sample for review purposes. The opinions are completely my own based on my experience.
