Training Recap Week #7 - 61 Days Till Blue Ridge

What a week. The cold weather gave over to rain and unseasonably warm temps. It was a nice break from the freezing cold and snow/ice. That will not be the case for this week. I hear the polar vortex is coming back just as I am planning to really kick training into high gear. UGH.

So let's get too it - Week #7

Monday: 1.5 miles with the 5k group

Tuesday 2.5 miles and cross training

Wednesday: GGX Cycle Class taught by my friend, Cindy. I got my but kicked in that class but I can't wait to do it again. No seriously, I can not remember the last time I sweat that much. 

Registration opened today for the Marine Corps 17.75k and the Marine Corps Historic Half. I managed to get into both but must admit that I am less thrilled about the 17.75 after learning that none of my running buds got in. I am taking it as a sign, that I WILL be training for the MCM now. God help me!

Thursday: Cross training in the morning, 3.25 miles in the afternoon - should have been more but you can read my post about it here. Rounded out the day with a great yoga class. Cindy threw in some extra vinyasas and I took full advantage of the chaturanga push-ups.  (My arms were still sore on Sunday. It was great.

Friday: Rest day and a well needed date night with the better half. 

Saturday: The Annapolis Striders Awards Banquet. Great times with great people. Limited my alcohol intake and watched what I ate due to the race the next morning.

Sunday: RRCA Club Challenge 10 Miler - aka The Columbia Death March - now being called the Hungover Hill Challenge by those that had a little too much to drink at the banquet the night before. I did not feel like 'racing' this race and really just wanted to use it as a timed training run. That is exactly what I did. I actually learned a lot in this race. There will be a good deal of ankle stability work in my future. My ankles were very tired post race, telling me that they would be even more tired during/after Blue Ridge.

Despite the tired ankles, it was a good run. I finished in 1:51:47. I was shooting for under 2 hours. Aside from tired ankles, I felt great the entire run and can attribute that to my ENERGYbits.

Totall Miles: 17.25 miles for the week and 107.48 miles for the year.

This week I have a five day cleaning eating challenge to look forward to. I'll provide a full report on the challenge within my Week #8 recap.
