Misadventures with wine, weights, and running shoes.

Two Heads Are Better Than One

Wednesday, May 14, 2014
Towards the end of 2013 I switched gyms and hired a personal trainer. The change in gym was a blessing. The personal trainer - not so much. Lesson learned, if you hire a trainer to help you improve with running make sure that he/she IS a runner. Don't take the word of the training manager that is just trying to sell you on training.

In the mean time, I became friends with Cindy K., a fellow Annapolis Strider as well as a marathoner, group fitness instructor, and all around great person. I started taking her Thursday evening yoga classes, dropped in on a RPM class, and consulted with her for advice in cross training for runners. Long story short, we became fast friends and after discussing my dilemma with training, devised a plan to work together.

I have always said that in any sport, in order to improve you need to be a bit of a masochist. You need to endure the pain and discomfort of pushing the limit, establishing new comfort zones, and then going beyond them. That having been said, I get my ass kicked on a regular basis.

We can discuss that at a later time though.

Not, long ago I had the brilliant idea of making Cindy a coauthor, here, on GBC. She looked at me like I was crazy and was left relatively speechless. Seriously - crickets - that was all I heard. She did, although reluctantly, accept the offer.

And so, without further adieu, please help me officially welcome Cindy onto Go Believe Conquer.
