Vega Sport Review: Electrolyte Hydrator #FuelYourBetter

Saturday, May 17, 2014

Since I started running, I am regularly looking for ways to better fuel myself while on the run and hydration is a never ending concern. Am I drinking enough through the days leading up to a long run or a race? Am I getting enough electrolytes?

When I was approached about giving a Vega Sport product a try, I knew that I had to give their Electrolyte Hydrator a try.

So how is this supposed to #FuelYourBetter

Per their site
Electrolyte Hydrator is a natural, alkaline-forming drink mix, free from sugar and artificial sweeteners, Vega Sport Electrolyte Hydrator is formulated with all the essential electrolytes your body needs to stay hydrated during workouts.
With zero calories per serving, Electrolyte Hydrator tastes great, so you can sip it not just during your workout, but throughout the day to:
  • Replenish electrolytes and minerals
  • Enhance metabolism and alkalinity
  • Provide antioxidant protection

This is exactly what I was looking for; something I could use during my workouts and during the day.

I got the Berry flavor which lists the ingredients as follows:
Natural pomegranate and raspberry flavors, citric acid, malic acid, stevia extract, red beet juice powder, silicon dioxide.
One box comes with 30 individually wrapped servings. This is convenient for throwing in your gym bag or purse.

Per the instructions, I mixed one package with 2 cups of cold water. Typically I dilute beverages more than this but I wanted to be sure that I followed the instructions on the first go round.

The flavor was light and actually enjoyable. It wasn't overpowering like some mixes or other sports drinks are. That is not to say that I wouldn't dilute it more. I just really enjoy my beverages with only a touch of flavor. I gave it a go over the course of a couple of weeks - taking it to the gym as well as adding it to bottles of water that I drink while I'm at work. I even added it to my hydration bottle on a run and found it to be a nice change from water. Personally, I prefer it mixed with ice added. It makes for a refreshing and light tasting drink.
Overall, I would definitely use this product again. At a price of $29.99 for the box of 30 individual servings I consider the price to be fair. Naturally, I would still hunt down coupons and stalk sales to try to get a lower price but if I wasn't able to find one, I would still buy it.

Thank you Vega Sport for helping me to #FuelMyBetter.  ~ Theresa
[Disclosure: I was given one box of Vega Sport Electrolyte Hydrator through my #SweatPink Ambassadorship/Fit Approach in exchange for a review. As always, my thoughts and opinions are completely my own].
